Zakir Hossain


He was born on 11th of December, but his official birthday is 6th of February; when he started his school, the teacher who enrolled him documented his birthday as 6th of February, he didn't know why and how that happened. Since then he has two birthdays, one is real and the other is official. This is one of a million examples of his dramatic life. The dramatic movements of his life play with him every so often and they cost him terrible pain as well as nourish him up with versatility.

He was interested in thousands of professions since his childhood, thousands of different dreams led him towards thousand kinds of activities. But nothing pulled him as much as art and literature did, as soon as he started practicing art and literature, he came to know that this was the path where he really belonged. Since then he has been passionately practicing art and literature, despite it has been a journey full of challenges, struggles, and difficulties.
In brief, he has been practicing art and literature since 1990. He is now a recognized filmmaker with skills in writing, research, acting, and training. He has written scripts for stage and television, made several films- both documentary and fiction, written film analysis for national dailies and film magazines in Bangladesh and the UK. He participated in five international film festivals so far and has two novels and two poetry books published. He also has completed a Masters (with commendation) in Media Production from the University of Bedfordshire in the UK.

His works have been appreciated by BBC, Screen East (The Screen Agency for the East of England) and many other high profile organizations and individuals. His work has frequently attracted the positive attention of the international news media too.
