AJ Vosse

South African, living in Ireland for more that 16 years. Love so much... life, family, the outdoors.

Good food. Am an avid supporter of the Low Carb, Healthy Fat way of life. I've reversed my Type 2 Diabetes, yes... and I have the proof - HbA1c = 40! Also a strong anti-statin advocate. The stuff is toxic. Together with big food/ sugar and big pharma we're doomed to illness. So, eat real food... beware of the junk the medical profession want us to ingest and look after yourself!

Writing has afforded me a vehicle of expression. I'm often heard saying that I'm no author or writer... rather a storyteller! I love the fact that once the idea begins the mind is capable of running with a story line. I very rarely know where the end will be when I begin with a tale. That's why short stories are such fun.

I hope you enjoy my tales. I hope you find them as stimulating to read as I find them satisfying to write. Enjoy, thanks and God bless!

Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in South Africa - some would say the jewel of Africa.

Wide open spaces. Barefoot and fancy free. A simple, uncluttered lower middle-class upbringing. OH, don't let me forget the grounding in Faith. Raised in a Christian home. The basic values of human rights, for all and equality of thought and deed were laid down at an early age. So was the appreciation of the great outdoors and God's creation.

Influence my writing? I'm not sure how but I seem to find inspiration from distant memories of the places I vaguely remember. Myths and mysteries, real or imaginary... they find their way into some of my stories, as is the case in The Lucky Thirteen.
Describe your desk
I don't really work from a desk... except when I'm at the day job.

Yes, the day job. Well, I hear you say... you shouldn't be mixing the day job with the writing, should you? Yes and no. Mutual ambivalence. How so? Simple... I often take day job home so if on the odd occasion, Lady Serendipity throws me an idea bone, I will open a "private" document and jot down a few quick lines. That's how short stories are born.

OK... back the the idea of sitting at a desk and slaving away. The laptop and wi-fi has changed all that. Now I can sit at the beach and work away. Or at a cricket game or while we're looking after the grand kids. Gone are the days when, as my hero Hemingway was known to say, sitting at the typewriter was needed for bleeding! Take your desk with you... be flexible, it promotes creative thought.
