Allison Kohn

Biography

Allison Kohn is a 75 year old ordained Presbyterian elder who has worked with both children (of all ages) and adults to help them with their Christian walk. She has published 11 books - five of them in the Baker family Saga. Since her example, Jesus, used stories to teach truth, she does the same. Everyone wants to be entertained and a good book teaches in an entertaining way, just as a good sermon preaches in an entertaining way. The author has a lot of experience with people and how they react to the ups and downs of life and she puts it to work in her writing.

Smashwords Interview

What is your writing process?
I Research, write, re-write, proof, edit, wait till enough time has passed so I won't read into the page, and proof again, edit again, and so on. That's why there are so many editions to each book.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
My mother was reading "The Five Little Peppers And How They Grew" to us. When she went into the house for something, we were sitting under a tree in the yard, I picked up the book and tried to read it. Years later when I finally learned to read for myself, I learned with the Little House books. I felt like the characters were all friends and I loved them.I think that probably was the impetus for the story my little sister and I made up and acted out for the next dozen years - that and the stories about family members settling the west when it was untamed and wild.
