L Lyott

Hello and thank you for your interest. My name is Leslie Lyott and I am a writer of the genres sci-fi fantasy/horror and below is a very brief insight into myself and my writing.

How I came to be a writer of sci-fi/horror/fantasy began in the days of my childhood when I was first inspired by my own nightmares. As a very young child my experiences were exactly as I have described Pat Sall's childhood experiences in Breakdow-you will believe and Pat's experiences of seeing things in the dark are my own personal anecdotes (excluding the visions he sees in the oil lamp). It was seeing things in the dark and hearing a terrifying voice that first made me question reality and although I have always believed such visions to originate from the mind their potency to draw attention and entertain has always remained with me.

I drew my earliest inspiration from comics, TV, cinema and, of course, books. My first passion and outlet was however drawing and painting. What has remained with me since those very early years is a desire for the escapism of mysterious adventure and my chosen genre generally allows me to escape the furthest! My thoughts and imagination constantly pose me with what Stephen King has referred to as, 'What if...' scenarios and I cannot help but become drawn into those 'What if..' places.

Writing with the intent for publishing has recently become my serious goal. My first career was in engineering but I quickly moved into local government. I have been an exhibiting artist and I currently play saxophone for Minnie and The Moochers. I am married with three children. For more details please visit youwillbelieve.com

Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie author?
To quote the legendary blues man John Lee Hooker... 'It's in him and it's gotta get out-Mama let that boy boogie. You may not be a musician, or a boy, but if you have creation inside you then 'it's gotta get out'.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Resolving, at least in part, the frustration of keeping my creativity locked up. It is always rewarding to read something I have written and find that it accurately confirms what has been in my mind.
