‘A loud bang was heard from above, scaring the boys. They shined their lights up the stairwell. The sounds of chains rattling on the floor stirred the dust above. Something or someone was up there. Doug, hiding his fear, took a couple of more steps up. Brandon and Kyle looked at him, their feet locked in place. They had no intention of going any further.’

Smashwords book reviews by A. Lopez, Jr

  • Ryan on Oct. 30, 2013

I'm not usually into reading love, romance, or erotic stories, but this one is a short, and quick-to-the-point story. No spoilers here, but the story takes off from word one and doesn't let up until the last word. Very enjoyable and passionate and leaves you wanting to find out more about Ryan and Minnie.
  • A.L.O.M. on Jan. 16, 2014

I am a fan of short stories and this one takes you on a journey through time and space and not only physically, but mentally as well. in fiction and in life, one person's hard work can be taken away in the blink of a eye .... in this story it sets up a justified ending. Whether you like sci-fi or stories about aliens, this one is for you!
  • After: First Light on Jan. 16, 2014

The end of the world and all of the possible scenarios after have been written and told, but this story takes a different and fresh approach to what could happen. The prequel in the series sets the tone. Fast read leaves you wanting to find out who might die next.
  • A Tragedy: The Short Story of Fox & Tango on April 25, 2014

From the names of Fox and Tango, to the M n M's, I found the pre-read blurb interesting and intriguing. Then the story unfolds and you find a powerful love story caught in the middle of, as the title implies, a tragedy. The way the author works the story into a twist at the end is done very well. The short story has a good pace and flow and for anyone wondering...the M n M's on the cover will be explained - you will just have to read. Definitely recommended.
  • Camielle's Lights on July 19, 2014

Being from Texas, I know all about lights in the sky. The Marfa Lights in west Texas are a true phenomenon with origins unknown. Camielle knows so much more than the rest of us, but does she know the whole truth? The flow of this story and the contrast between Camielle and the rest of the city was done well. Recommended!
  • A.L.O.M Episode 2: Stranded on Oct. 03, 2014

I have read ALOM 1 & 2 in the series and one of the things I like best in them is that each episode is short in length and gets right into the action/point of the story, with the contrast in the environment Vlad has found himself in, described very well. It may not be necessary to read the first one to get the second, but to grab the true nature of the flow, message and transition of the complete story, I feel that reading in succession is best for me. I'm waiting to see what happens to 'ole Vlad!
