Alyssa is currently working on her Master's degree in Education. She hopes to teach elementary school and write stories for children. Alyssa previously published a memoir about her experiences living with a disease.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Initially writing gave me a way to cope with living with my disease. It helped me make meaning from my experiences and come to accept that I have a disease.
Now I plan on writing more books in different genres. I enjoy the creative process and being able to create stories.
What do your fans mean to you?
It really means a lot when someone takes the time to read my story, whether it's on my blog or it's my memoir. It's really humbling and I have met some great people as a result of my memoir.
It may be in her genes, but Alyssa chooses to fight back against a rare disease called Gardner’s Syndrome. She knows what her disease is physically capable of, and what it cannot do. It may take from her body, but it can never harm her mind or heart. Gardner’s Syndrome will never take away her ability to love, overcome, or live life to its fullest. Alyssa has chosen to go against the tide.
