Anne-Marie Brockman

Biography

I live on a farm near the village of St. Benedict, Saskatchewan, with Gerry, my husband of thirty-seven years. We have four grown children and seven grandchildren.

I am French-Canadian, and I was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, the second youngest of nine children. I have been bilingual most of my life, a fact for which I am extremely grateful.

Writing has been a constant in my life. A passion that started when
I was a child and developed into a full-fledged love of literature.

People often ask me why I situate my stories in Saskatchewan, especially the small rural areas. Big or small, city or village, I love each and every place I choose as a setting. I moved here over twenty-five years ago, but I remain in awe of this province. It is rich in history, and I admire the love and pride that everyone takes in honouring their ethnic backgrounds. The French, Germans, Hungarians, Ukrainians, and so on, all live in harmony, respecting and celebrating each other’s differences.

My fictional world is boundless, and creating stories is a joy. A learning process. An adventure into the unknown. A fabulous escape from reality. And I owe it all to God!
