What motivated you to become an indie author?
For as long as I can remember, I've always loved to read. In fact, right now I'm in the middle of three (!!) different series. However, I've also always had a wild imagination. I would lay in bed at night and think about stories that I wanted to see played out. Then, I would go look for books that matched these ideas in my head. I realized, though, that this was kind of backwards. I figured that instead of searching for something that matched my idea, I should write the stories as I wanted them to play out. With that thought in mind, I put pen to paper (well, fingers to keys) and wrote my first full-length novel.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy is seeing how the story unfolds. I generally have a pretty good idea of the main story line, but the smaller details and scenes are more spur of the moment. I'll get going on a chapter, and all of a sudden, the creative juices start flowing and a million ideas come to mind. I love being able to look back at the end, and see how the story progressed and changed over time and multiple edits. I also love love love getting feedback from people who read my writing. Good and bad! I admit, publishing your work is scary, so the positive feedback gives me that little boost of confidence I need when I'm feeling unsure about my writing ability. That said, I also relish in the negative/constructive feedback. I want my writing skills to continuously grow, and my books to get better and better. Hearing the bad helps me tweak what I am doing to make it better the next go around.
