I feel so ambivalent about this book. I am giving it 3 starts because thats the closest I can get to 2.5 stars.
On one hand, as other readers have found, the book is rife with all kinds of errors. I can't stand even a few in a book. This book is LOADED with spelling, grammatical and tense errors. What the heck is the deal with all the past/present tense issues? It drove me crazy. The book gets ZERO stars because of that. I usually won't even bother to read a book beyond a few pages if things are that bad.
On the other hand, the story was SO GOOD that I was compelled to keep reading. The author has some fascinating ideas, i.e., the "item". I lost sleep 2 or three nights in a row (my boss says thank you very much H. Lee Morgan)because I had to find out happens next in each chapter. The book gets 5 stars for that.
It averages out to 2.5, so I rounded it all off to 3 stars.
I hate the idea of spending $5.00 on a sequel, but will inevitably give in at some point cause I just have to have more of Alex, Lily and Shade.
