Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. In fact I'm still growing up. I was born in Ireland but lived in America, Spain, Germany and Belgium for extended periods of time. I also travelled a lot when I was younger. It all finds its way in there so my books tend to be multi-cultural with an underpinning of Irish and American humour on the darker side.
At the moment anyway. Next book could be a whole lot different :-)
When did you first start writing?
Jesus H. As soon as I could hold a pen. I started to write short stories in college when I was studying English Lit and Philosophy but I went off on a tangent and forgot about it for a decade or so. When I came back to it (about 10 years ago) I gave it a good bash the traditional way and wrote three very different novels one after the other, but my career and travel schedule was way too busy to give it the time and energy it needed. There was no self-pub indie revolution at the time so I left it all behind to focus on more tangible things. Now self-pub is here and I've been pounding away again with gusto for the last year. That first novel I wrote back around 2000, 2001 is what you see on here as Murder Watch divided into two parts and also available as a box set. Regardless of sales this work will always be dear to me as my first completed novel.
