April Klasen

April Klasen lives in rural N.S.W and some would say the local library is her second home. If she isn’t obsessing over a story (one she’s working on or one she is reading) April can be found watching anime in her pyjamas and eating strawberry ice-cream. Smashwords Interview

Describe your desk
My desk is old and falling to bits. I have to be careful with how I lean on it otherwise the top will slip off the legs, luckily though the legs are solid things and don't move so easily. I like to keep the surface clean and clear of any clutter when I'm working, keeping only the essential pieces of paper within arm reach. If I'm not working then it just ends up covered in half read books and half edited manuscripts.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I'm still living where I grew up, in a slightly bigger than small country town. Some of the locations appear in my stories, in fact The Annual is the most obvious map, with some changes to accommodate the story. You could probably use the book to find the hospital.
Blair's home was more set where my grandparents lived (not the house, that was based around one of my childhood homes).
I like to write about places that I know very well and tweak them here and there.
