Christopher Alderson

Biography

Mr. Alderson is a physicist by academic training and an aerospace engineer by profession. His career has spanned more than 35 years as a research and development specialist in the fields of aircraft aerodynamic performance, stability, and control as well as structural vibration, stress analysis, and experimental test. As a part of everyday "business as usual" he has done extensive technical writing and reporting. He has published numerous independent research papers for the Journal of the American Helicopter Society (AHS), the international Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development (AGARD), and the Vertical Lift Consortium/National Rotorcraft Technical Center (VLC/NRTC)*. In these efforts he has collaborated on projects and co-authored technical writings with one of the chief scientists at NASA/Ames Research Center and faculty research staff at Penn State University and the Hessert Flow Physics Laboratory at the University of Notre Dame and provided contributory technical input to the current world recognized professional text book in the field of aircraft system identification and handling qualities. He was a past winner of the Northeast Regional Robert Lichten Award given annually by the American Helicopter Society.
When away from the engineering office, Mr. Alderson likes to occasionally write about an eclectic mix of less weighty topics covering a wide range from general science educational essays, science fiction and engineering fiction stories, "alternative society" concepts, politics, philosophy, and, of course, his great love: cats!
