When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love gardening. My husband and I have a large, organic garden that keeps me busy. It seems that if I'm not busy outside in the garden, then I'm busy trying to keep up with the harvest.
I also love art, and although my chosen media varies from time to time, right now it's photography and digital imaging. Having been an Art Teacher, there is a variety of media I have enjoyed.
In addition I do volunteer work in various gardening organizations, spend time with my family, and play with my pets.
How did you come up with the idea of "Rattles Goes to the City," for a children's book series?
When my daughters were growing up, we would go visit my mother on her farm. There were always lots of cats there, and the girls looked for new litters of kittens when we would be there.
Rattles was a real cat on my mother's farm, and she was indeed exceptionally friendly. The series started from those elements.
