I live in Norway with my husband. I have seven grandchildren, one dog and a liking for the trolls and dragons found lurking in the woods. I've been taking pictures of them on my walks with Lula the dog, and the pictures have turned into stories.
Now the stories have turned into books.
They are about the adventures of seven troll, a granny, grandchildren, a fluffy dog, and various other characters who come and go. My two eldest grandchildren appear in Book 4, and in Book 5, just out, the next three have joined in, the babies will no doubt also be included soon. The website is http://trollstories.co.uk/
When did you first start writing?
I loved writing poems as a child. My sister and I wrote them on long train journeys. We once amused ourselves greatly by writing one while helping our grandmother at a blood doning session in the village. We gave poems to people as Christmas presents.
The first troll story I wrote was for my grandchildren. It was very short, just one page, but it kept developing in my head and ended up as a little book.
What's the story behind your book?
The book came about all by itself. I found this amazingly dark, deep-looking pool in the woods and took a picture of it, and called it a troll pool on Facebook. Then the next day a very troll-like bush appeared up another path, and became Blue Troll. A bush apparently holding a tall thin tree became Blue Troll fishing for blueberries, and on another walk there was a broken branch lying across the Troll Pool, and I started wondering how it had got there. And then, there was Red Dragon at the top of a tall fir tree! Well, who could resist? The characters insisted that they be written about (I've got all those original pictures on my website, by the way.)
