Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I wrote "Maximise Your Mind" back in 1995 as part of my BA (Psychology). One of my Arts subjects was publishing, I loved it and by the end of the course each of us had to have something published or publishable. I was the only one with a published book by the end of the course. Nearly killed me travelling 3 hours a day for uni and working 3 casual jobs to pay the mortgage and feed the family, but it was worth it in the end. That book has morphed into "Tame Your Inner Dragons: clinical and psychic uses of trance" that is now going thru the editing stage.
What is your writing process?
Time, finding time is the most critical issue and working full time then trying to feel inspired to write leaves weekends and holidays. I have about 10 books quarter written, notes, blogs, courses and lectures on my computer and they form the backbone to my books.
How do I do it? I get up early, dawn is best for me but I will also work late into the night when I have the following day off. I just sit with my home roasted coffee, laptop on my lap and type away. I type as it comes, stream of consciousness, and it works for me.
I do a lot of meditation and contemplate and this is when I get most of my inspiration for chapters, paragraphs and concepts. I also recall pertinent experiences that I then put into my books to illustrate the point I am making.
