Stop Sabotaging: A 31-Day DBT Challenge to Change Your Life
on Jan. 25, 2013
Reading Debbie Corso's DBT Challenge book and practicing the skills, day by day, has done more for me than nearly any other step I've taken on my journey to recover from borderline personality disorder. Each day's skill builds on the others, and the result has been a much greater integration and understanding of the skills and concepts of dialectical behavior therapy.
More than anything, what sets this book apart from others on the topic, is that Debbie focuses on the practical application and reflection of the personal experience of these skills. Not just an intellectual understanding. Stop Sabotaging is also very helpful in terms of developing a more fluid, integration and experience of the four DBT modules and how they can work in harmony with each other.
This book is a must-read for anyone looking to incorporate DBT skills into their daily lives. It is a wonderful resource for both those just starting out, to those who have been in groups and programs for years. It is easily digestible and accessible, while being incredibly effective if one perseveres throughout the course of the challenge. This makes a perfect gift.
Has this challenge changed my life? Time will tell, but I can definitely say that I am a more skillful person and have greater faith in the possibility of healing and recovery than I was before starting this challenge.
