M.M. Maxwell

Hmmm...why is it I can write about everyone else but when it comes to writing about myself I get writers block.

I live in sunny California. I have a long-time relationship with a wonderful man. He and I love to travel and explore new and exotic places.

I have an MA in public administration and a BA in psychology. I spent a number of years in the silicon valley rat race. I went to UCSD but that was years ago. More recently I completed a program for teaching certification with a specialization in special education.

I come from a large Catholic family. I don't have any children of my own but consider my many, many nieces and nephews to be like my own children (only part time - so much better).

I had to put the love of my life to sleep in January of this year. He was my dog Keo. Keo appears in the books I am writing so you will get to know him a little as I did.

Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie author?
Listening to people talk about their lives, thinking of other ways they might have turned out, lead me to want to write their stories. I am compelled in that when I hear things I think, this should be written so people know; it shouldn't just enter my head and die. I wanted to write so I could chronicle events, actions and feelings and sometimes write an outcome as I believe it could have been.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
At this writing I have just finished editing and formatting so I can't comment on "success" yet but I do know that I love the efficiency of Smashwords. The guides have given me a lot of direction. Without Smashwords it would be six months to a year before my book would have been uploaded.

Can't put it down - gripping, engrossing tale told by a woman living a life of complacency while slowly and cruelly being deprived of all free will through abuse, until eventually, consumed with self-loathing, and along with the help of a few friends and her brave children, she creatively works to take back control.
