  • In the Midst of the Valley: Hope for Your Cancer Journey on April 26, 2016

I received a free copy of this book for my honest review. When walking through the valley of the shadow of death, we all could use a prescribed dosage of hope. In the Midst of the Valley gives you that and more. It also offers that certain and reassuring voice of consolation, that of which can be likened to that of a close, personal friend. Author and Hope in the Valley blogger J.K. Stewart shares her story of her own fight with cancer. When walking through her valley, she would find that the Lord's presence would be reinforced in her life. Now Stewart draws from her experiences to encourage readers that they are not alone even in their darkest hours, and that hope is never too far away. In the Midst of the Valley includes ninety readings that will strengthen your faith, especially for those battling serious illnesses such as cancer. Each devotional passage begins with an uplifting scripture. Peaceful promises and prayers end every chapter, which further reveal the author's heart of compassion and fervent desire to lift up in prayer, the burdens of her readers. The simple, short passages will appeal to the reader physically overcome by the nature of the disease or weakened by the effects of their treatment. As you peruse these pages, you will especially be empowered by the rich display of the author's faith, and persevering spirit. You too will find yourself reaffirmed in your faith, as you read stories of triumph, strength and courage. Stewart connects readers to a real issue, but also directs them to the God that is bigger than every storm. He is also the same Lord who promises to walk with us through the valley. This devotional book is recommended for anyone presently undergoing a battle of their own with cancer, or know of a loved one that is. What's great about In the Midst of the Valley, is that whether you find yourself walking in the valley of cancer, or facing another trial, there is something here for you. This book will provide comfort and reassurance to those who are heavily burdened, stressed, sick, heartbroken, depressed, or simply weary. Don't be surprised if you shed a tear or two.
