Babs Malchow Smith

Biography

Author of Day Tripping: Kayak Wisconsin Door County Peninsula: Bluffs, Beaches, Lighthouses, and Shipwrecks.
Babs has an easy propensity to saying yes to just about any adventure one of her brothers dreams up. She is married to her husband, Mike, who indulges and lets her West wind flow, whereas, he steers clear and likes to stay well grounded. Babs is an occupational therapist by trade, so although she is the least skillful paddler, she is handy at the end of the day when any tendonitis muscle ache flares up.

Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Grew up right here in northeast Wisconsin in Appleton. I work in Green Bay. I love Wisconsin and all four seasons. Obviously I am especially fond of summer and kayaking! The Door County Peninsula is right in my backyard. Happy to share all the joy that we found circumnavigating around the peninsula. The scenery is terrific, the serenity is divine. Hope you enjoy the book and that it encourages you to book a day trip or your vacation to this premier destination in Wisconsin.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing the book three years ago, after the second leg of our journey. Wasn't always easy finding kayak launch sites and public rest areas along the shoreline. After doing so much research for each day trip, decided to share the information with everyone who might enjoy Wisconsin's Door County Peninsula incredible shoreline.
