Barbara Ebel, M.D.

Barbara Ebel is a physician and writer. She attended University of Louisville medical school, University of Louisville residency training, and practiced in Louisville and Florida as a board-certified anesthesiologist. She doesn’t presently practice anesthesia, but has used her primary care skills as a clinic volunteer physician and on a medical mission. She is a medical guest lecturer on topics ranging from physician suicide to Malignant Hyperthermia. She incorporated advice and healthy living information in her short book titled "Younger Next Decade: After Fifty, the Transitional Decade, and What You Should Know."

Doctor Barbara sprinkles credible medicine into the background of her novels and her operating room scenes shine, but her characters and plots take center stage. She has written Operation Neurosurgeon: You never know...who's in the OR and Outcome, A Novel: There's more than a hurricane coming... for which The Midwest Book Review labelled her a "master storyteller."

Doctor Barbara has also written and illustrated a children’s book series called Chester the Chesapeake about her therapy dog. As an author, she is situated in the right spot for writing, nestled into a wildlife corridor in middle Tennessee with her husband and pets. She has lived up and down the East Coast and always enjoys being close to the Atlantic, the Gulf of Mexico, or lakes and rivers.

4 1/2 Stars for this refreshing plot! We all like our specific genres but once in awhile it’s nice to switch. It’s also nice to change your favorite book length once in awhile …you may have just read a voluminous 600 page saga and need a break or maybe you just read a too short, short story. So that’s why I picked up Justice for Emily, a novella, and a detective story. It even haunts with a paranormal flavor over and above the plot of a gruesome Police Chief in Brownwood, TX and the hot romance between the two officers seeking justice. I’ll sum it up: add Detective Racheal Merchant and Officer Patrick Sheehan to your reading list for a refreshing Fall read. What fun! Way to go, author Sandy Wolters.
