Hi Now that I am retired I write books to help others. My career has been in the Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Aromatherapy, for over 50 years. Always was and will be passionate about my work and teaching others to be above average. In my 30s I studied Architecture and went on to win several major awards. My family are all clairvoyants and trained me at a very early age. I am not happy writing about myself it feels like an ego trip so that is why it is brief.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grow up on the Northern beaches in Sydney Australia. My family was a large very close extended family. Spelling was one of those subjects I could not get my head around. My family sat at a large dinner table and we would tell stories. My grand parents on both sides had many old remedies for aliment which we would discuss. At Christmas time we would get together and fill hand painted bottles with skincare. Mainly tanning lotions, after sun-care, pain relief bath salts and cleansing and massage lotions and potions. It is thanks to word processers and the internet that my spelling has improved which has allowed me to write books.
When did you first start writing?
When I started to train apprentices in my hair and beauty salons in 1970's I needed to write a salon protocol. Then in The 1990's after completing my Aromatherapy course I was asked to write an Aromatherapy training manual for an Essential oil company. My good friend Sue Oldfield was hired to check my spelling. I loved having Sue at work with me. Not everyone gets to work with their lovely friend. The essential oil company then asked me to run workshops for Chemist, Health food stores and new-age store worker. That's when this alluring journey began.
