I received this book from the author via the group Lovers of Paranormal on Goodreads in exchange for an honest review. Let me just say, holy crap Mr McClain, way to spook me sir. (It took me longer to read this then others, primarily because I read at night, in the dark, before bed. Not my smartest move to date.) Needless to say, I really enjoyed this book! I had been waiting for something to totally freak me out, and this did it for sure. It's ominous from the start, dark, and disturbing. I felt the weight of the mountains pressing down on me, the tightening in my chest, and blood banging through my head in anticipation. (And then my kid snorts in her sleep and I jump out of my skin...) Well done sir, very enjoyable.
**Spoiler, kind of** Also the book was left open for a potential second? Would love to see a continuation of the story, what's a couple more heart palpitations...right?
'Lie to yourself all you want, but the end is already written, it's just a matter of getting there.'
Oh Hook, one moment while I swoon...
One of the reasons why I like Marie Hall so much, is because her stories are quick and enjoyable escapism. She whisk's you along entangling you in the magical world she has created (or expanded upon) leaving you with the inevitable HEA.
I love her shake up of characters, and the twists she throws in. Nothing is quite as we thought it. =P
I absolutely adore Danika, she's such a hoot. She is exactly what I would expect my fairy godmother to be. Full of sass.
'Surely Charming never gave his godmother such a hellashish time. Then again Charming was as dull as dirty dishwater, there was that.'
That line just tickled me.
While I loved Trishelle's story and character, the thing that took from her (for me) was some of her dialogue. I found valley-girl coming through my receptors at points, which didn't mix with my whiskey coated English accent my brain decided Hook was going to have.
I'm looking forward to reading about more bad boys (and girls) and am SO glad this isn't the last of Kingdom!
I received this book from the author for an honest review. (LoP) =)
