Bert Johnston is a retired pastor and presbytery executive who has left the writing of sermons for the writing of novels. When he writes of the trials and triumphs of pastors and their churches, he writes to entertain, not to preach, but hopes also to inspire.
Bert lives with his wife Betty and their cat, Walter Mitty, in southern Alabama, where the waters of the Tensaw Delta flow through the marshes and empty into the beautiful Mobile Bay.

Dr. Matthew Landry, organizer and senior pastor of Mobile's Harmony Temple, aims to make the Temple the largest Protestant church on the Gulf Coast until that goal and his marriage are threatened by the public confession of a woman who claims to be his lover.
Is Dr. Matt guilty or innocent?
The futures of a family and a church hang in the balance in this compelling new novel by Bert Johnston.
Parson Campbell's Breakthrough will encourage all who labor in the night, unsure of what the dawn may bring, as Parson Campbell did in his small Virginia community in the turbulent 1950's. It revisits the tensions and occasional triumphs in America in that era, not to be forgotten in this era when a black man can aspire to be President.
