After reading the first book, I was hoping to enjoy this one a lot more, and I did! The story definitely improved in this book. A lot of mystery was solved and it made the story much more enjoyable. I like mystery but too much of it tends to get a bit annoying, which is what kind of happened with the first book.
I loved the character development. Laura’s character was amazingly done, and Eliza was a fantastic addition to the story. After the first book, I was really hoping for some background into the Siman character and I got what I wanted. I now understand why his character was created the way it was and why the author did what he did.
Overall, this was a very fun book and a pretty cool concept. I’m not sure a third book could live up to this one, but I am excited to find out. After reading this one, I do intend on going back and reading the first one again when I have time. I may have a different opinion now that I've read them both.
I really liked this story but I’m afraid that I am unable to give the popular 5 star rating it has received. I like mysteries and thrillers but this book seemed to have a little too much mystery. I knew there was a second book going in but I was hoping that some more questions would be answered.
I liked the evilness of Siman’s character, but I really want to know more about him. How did he become so evil, and why? Some insight to his past and all that missing time would have been nice. Laura’s character was great and I found Lily to be rather annoying. There were a couple of other insignificant characters but it’s ok. Stories need them to get rid of for the benefit of the important ones.
