Smashwords Interview

Describe your desk
My L-shaped desk is full of papers and 'things' to do. Post-it notes cover the inside panels around my computer as I write. Photos of family and friends surround me as well as tons of tiny figurines! I love small things and tend to collect small versions of my favorite characters (such as Snoopy, Spyro, Doc & Marty, Jack Sparrow... just to name a few!).
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small town in Ohio, where hanging out in the parking lot of Walmart was the cool thing to do as a teenager. Half of the people were country and the other half tried to be city. Life was ordinary, which helped inspire my imagination about faraway worlds. It also gave me plenty of time to read as much as possible, without distractions, because it was back in the times of flip phones and limited internet.
