As much as I liked this book, there was something missing. Not a character or a plot twist, but emotions. I felt like Alexa was never happy the entire time that I was reading. When I finished, I felt that it should not have been the end. Despite these feelings of something missing and not there, overall, Blood Warrior was a wonderfully written, complex novel. With a wide variety of paranormal creatures in literature today, it is refreshing to see strong female characters and an interesting plot. The paranormal aspect of this novel was incredible. It was as though I could actually picture every creature. I loved how there was a bit of mystery surrounding Alexa's species and abilities.
Nelly, Jackson, Tommy, and Mark were great minor characters. Each one of them had very different personalities, each adding feeling and depth to the novel. Alexa Montgomery was a near perfect female character. For once, it was nice to see a female who could actually THINK and not make reckless and unnecessary decisions.
Overall, this book was wonderfully written and interesting, but something just wasn't there. I felt as though Alexa needed a bit more emotion. I absolutely adored this book and look forward to the sequel. I would recommend this novel to anyone who loves strong female main characters, and paranormal species.
I honestly thought that I would enjoy this book. I really did. But the opposite was true. I did not like it. I found the plot to be slow and not interesting. I couldn't finish the book, I tried, but I just couldn't. The writing was really good, but I could not finish because of the plot.
