The story is woven across multiple timelines and in two star systems and the author weaves the complicated plot with skill. It's a bit of a cliff hanger you think the ending is going to be predictable, but it’s not quite what you expect. Some new twists on old concepts and quite a few original ideas. A very enjoyable read.

A great follow on from Anvil. The Rakan are really cool, well worthy of the nasty monster of the year award. Well worth a read.
