Bonnie Berman Shores

Biography

Bonnie Berman Shores, an avid reader of young adult fiction, was inspired to write her debut novel GENESIS through a dream ― a dream where angels and demons hide in plain sight. Which would be fine with her, since she loves all things supernatural and looks for any excuse to dress in costume, as long as it's a female who kicks butt.

A former Yankee, Bonnie and her husband (not a former Yankee) live in beautiful central Florida. Most days, she can be found reading in the shade, combing thrift shops or being walked by her dog, Skipper.

Smashwords Interview

What do your fans mean to you?
Haha! My imaginary fans are what keeps me going. Their love for my characters and how they express what my story means to them is inspirational. I love that they remember birthdays, quote favorite lines and envision who will play each character in the movie. Also, some of the artwork that they come up with is amazing. ;)
What's the story behind your latest book?
Back at the height of the Twilight craze, I was awakened from yet another Edward dream (embarrassing, I know) with the outline for Genesis filling my head. I believe this was a gift from God. He wanted me to have a Twilight of my own. What's amazing is that there were elements of the story that I hadn't known prior to this happening that turned out to be real. Biggest example: the fact that there really is an Eden, Georgia.

“God wanted her to be purposeful about spreading His message, whether it be in her office, in her neighborhood, or wherever He directed her to walk on this earth.” Thus ends “Eyes on the Unseen Prize”, S.J. Thomason's Christian romance. First Peter 3:15 tells us to “...honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect”. This is certainly what Thomason has done here. Her passion for sharing the gospel is evident in every paragraph of this book. “Eyes on the Unseen Prize” introduces us to Piper, a twenty-something who loves the Lord and isn't afraid to share her knowledge of His Word with family and friends, even when they don't want to hear it. We also meet Nick, Piper's boyfriend, and get to see their relationship grow in mutual love and respect. Nick and Piper's friends are featured prominently as well, and we're privy to many of the ups and downs in their lives, as this story takes place over several years. Some of the downs are tough to read, but we're constantly reminded that our faith is in a sovereign God Who loves us and has a plan for our lives. My favorite quote from the book is, “This life is but a speck of sand in the eternal beach of heaven”. I have often quoted James 4:14 which says, in part, “For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes”, but I love the alternate picture of Heaven as an eternal beach. If you are looking for an encouraging Christian book with a happy ending, look no further than “Eyes on the Unseen Prize”.
