Sarah Abbett

I live in the San Francisco area of California. I've been a writer for many years and just beginning to get into the published arena. I write fantasy, poetry of all sorts, spiritual things (I'm a Christian), mystery, and science fiction. I may expand my genres in the future, but that's mostly what I focus on. I look forward to publishing more in the future.

Smashwords Interview

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, I do. I was in 4th grade (about 9 for those of you not in the states) and decided that my stuffed panda bear (who had the very original name of Beary) was actually Super Beary - defender of all that was good and right. I still don't know why I picked a peacock for the villain, but Super Beary saved the day against the evil peacock who wanted to take over the world.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
If I can invite the reader into the world inside my head and they can see it and enjoy it too - that's good writing. And it transcends all kinds of barriers. I love that people can connect on that level.

Corruption of government today. Though I originally wrote this in April before the government shut down, the poem remains relevant.
Grief is Like

A poem about grief. It was inspired by the loss of my father, who passed suddenly in 2008. The grief lingers on, but so do the good memories and the things he passed on to me. This poem is for anyone who has felt a profound sadness.
