J. Michael Shoemaker was born in Beaufort, South Carolina on September 9, 1968. Boy In Babylon is his first book. With a childhood as colorful as that of Mark Twain’s Tom Sawyer, Michael departed from the quaint coastal town of The Lowcountry in 1987 with a hobo bag full of dreams. A Rebel Without a Clue, and too naive to know better, he rolled through life until everything his parents and grandparents told him came true. In 2001, with his tattered bag of dreams still intact, he completed running his first Marathon. On that endorphin induced day, he made an agreement with himself to follow his bliss and to never give up on his dreams again.
Boy In Babylon is one of those hobo bag dreams; realized.
