John Van Roekel

John Van Roekel awoke one morning in 1994 after reading Nathan Miller’s excellent biography of Theodore Roosevelt, and told his wife Pam that he was going to write a novel about Buffalo Soldiers. After years of writing and research, including trips to the Wounded-Knee site in South Dakota and San Juan Hill in Cuba, Braver Deeds is the result.

John recently published his next novel, Prisoner Moon. He is sixty-three years old and lives with Pam in San Diego.
