What is your writing process?
I have two main ways of writing: spontaneous thoughts, and systemic revelation.
Spontaneous thought would often paint pictures in my mind about people and places, primarily from reading Bible verses. They may not happen at the time of writing, actually it's often at a later date when the passage starts to open up in my mind that I gain a lot of perspective or understanding about how a person would feel in such and such a situation. It's easy to write when you're sitting, bathing in someone else's shoes, text just "flows".
Systemic revelation comes in various ways. I can be doing my own thing, unrelated to any Bible study or prayer, when suddenly multiple passages come together at once and form a picture. This leads me to delve into the topic and search for historical works, quotes and other areas that are being revealed by the Holy Spirit.
The art of actually putting together a book can take weeks, months or years. Some of my future works are those that have come over a long period of time and it's taken me a while to make it educational and readable. A good editor also helps.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
When I was young I didn't really take much in.
Not that I didn't enjoy reading, or being read to; it's just I didn't know the purpose in reading. Or writing. Or spelling. Or grammar.
In fact, I probably needed a lot more attention than other people, however as I was the "quiet child" who "always did well in class" I wasn't considered "to be a problem". As a result, I often felt left out.
It wasn't until much later in life that I started to find purpose and enjoyment in books, reading, and ultimately writing.
I love writing !
I take great pleasure in crafting just the right works to create just the right situation so as to convey the right message.
It brings a smile to my face each time I complete a work.
