Yvonne Brand


Yvonne Brand, married with three daughters, was born in Cape Town and grew up in Worcester, the heart of the South African winelands. In 1956, her husband's appointment as City Engineer of Windhoek, took her to South West Africa/Namibia. While living there, her interest in the history of the territory was aroused and she began writing articles for the South West Africa Annual. With the invaluable assistance of the chief archivist, D.W. Kyynauw, and her husbands constant encouragement, the seed for The Camelthorn Tree was sown.
