The East End of London UK, is Carol's backdrop to her gritty sagas and family dramas. She is a bestselling Sunday Times author, published for fourteen years with Simon & Schuster and has recently begun to self-publish her own material. Her stories spring from the warm-hearted and resourceful neighbourhoods of the East End - the heart of London's docklands. Her writing is simple, but her rough-tough Cockney characters tell it like it is, leaving the reader in no doubt that her feisty heroines are a force to be reckoned with.
Carol would especially like to thank all the many reviewers who have purchased and reviewed her novels and short stories. She takes great heart and inspiration from your comments. What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I've found that an honest and down-to-earth connection with the reader is one of the most important marketing techniques. Social media helps to start a conversation just as you would in a bookshop, supermarket, at the club or hairdresser. Word of mouth and personal recommendations are priceless. I understand building an email list is important, but I'd never want to lose sight of what the books are written to provide; a message of Hope.
Describe your desk
I work on an old, hard-worn wooden desk, using an Apple. I love the warmth and sturdiness of the oak and the portability of my contemporary laptop.
