I am a writer and a reader with a passion for romance novels. Since I first discovered fiction, devouring pieces by my favorite authors, starting with John Grisham, Tom Clancy, and Nora Roberts, I have created adventures in my head until it becomes too elaborate for my mental cloud and the story rushes onto paper like an ice age megaflood.
When I write, I pull on my diverse personal, academic, and professional background to create rich stories with relatable characters. I have a master’s in healthcare and have a background in geology.
My favorite pastime is curling up by the fire on a cold day with a cup of hot coffee and a great book. When that’s not possible, I love travelling with my husband, our two amazing kids, and our goofy Labrador retriever. I’m a Pacific Northwesterner; as such the great outdoors have always called to me. Nothing is more satisfying on a beautiful day than trekking through the woods, swimming the Puget Sound, playing in the ocean waves, or hiking the Olympics.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
At the eager, oh-so-awkward age of 12, I wrote my first short story about a lawyer defending a wrongly-accused man. I was a huge John Grisham fan at the time (still am), and was inspired. I still remember by teacher's comment, encouraging me to develop the story into a complete novel. I never finished the novel, but the short story became the definitive start of my passion for fiction-writing.
What is your writing process?
Insomnia is an incredibly common complaint. Not for me. I love going to sleep, because I write stories in my head as I fall asleep. Each story becomes increasingly developed after a month or so, then I fire up the laptop and start solidifying those ideas.
The McAllister siblings seem to attract trouble... but not without sizzling romance that'll make your toes curl and your brain go all fuzzy.
