Crystal Mason

Crystal Mason started writing books of poetry, then transitioned into narrative writing. Becoming a writer was not a goal as she began her studies as a psychology major at Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis. It wasn't until she had a bad experience that she stumbled upon her natural ability to create stories. And this discovery started her down a newfound path of purpose. As she began her journey in writing, she found another niche in the education field, which led her to pursue a teaching degree. Thus, she is now pursuing a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies to become an elementary teacher. She enjoys working with children, and her goal, outside of teaching, is to continue writing stories that are inspiring and entertaining for her readers.

Smashwords Interview

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Creating the characters and the scenes; writing the dialogue; just “creating” a fictional story that captivates the reader.
Do you outline your books or wing it? Describe your process.
I jot down my ideas on paper such as what roles the characters will play and how they will tie into each other. I’ve tried winging it before, but it doesn’t work well for me. I need to envision my story first; having an understanding of where I want my story to go helps my writing flow better. I will always brainstorm because it’s a strong foundation for my writing.
