Born in the year of Star Wars, in the birth town of Darwin, I left Shropshire to study literature in Cheltenham, before travelling and building a litany of obscure jobs. I currently live between London and Madrid, where I teach secondary school English and scratch my imagination onto parchment.
I caught the fantasy bug as a child at the top of a faraway tree, in a hole in the ground and through a snowy wardrobe.
My interests outside of writing and reading include: travelling, outdoorsy stuff, heavy metal, gaming, photography and real ale.

A theory – that by discovering the origins of all language a channel to the divine could be opened – dominates the linguist's life work, driving him to the point of obsession and sacrifice. When a feral child is discovered in a nearby cave, he seizes the opportunity to further his research. But just how far will he be willing to go to prove his theory? And in the end, will the gods even listen?
