Chantal Fournier (Author):
Translator, author, teacher – I am never quite sure how to describe myself. I have worked as a freelance professional English to Canadian French translator for over ten years, giving new life to other people’s words. I am also a PhD student in the field of Education with a focus on digital literacies, i.e. how people communicate and relate to each other through digital media.
Originally from a small-ish city not too far from Montreal, I now live in Toronto, Canada, after a long stint on the beautiful Canadian West Coast, where I taught French to university students.
"Silent Words," the story of a girl floating on a peculiar cloud, is my debut book. It is the fruit of a long collaboration with my artistic husband, Nicolas, who illustrates my books.
Nicolas Lajeunesse (Illustrator):
As the son of a sculptor and the grandson of a painter, art has always been a part of my life. After studying filmmaking in Montreal and working with my father for a few years, I left my French-Canadian roots and headed for the West Coast, where I discovered digital arts.
I currently design video game interfaces by day, and illustrate my personal projects by night. I am an avid movie soundtrack lover and own hundreds of titles. I published several comic books and designed high profile websites. Silent Words’ illustrations reflect my latest artistic penchant towards vector style graphics.
I live in Toronto, Canada, with my wife and family.
