C. Parlett

Biography

Charlene Parlett has learned to live with a positive perspective regardless of life’s circumstances. Growing up poor outside an affluent community, she and her family often slept around a kerosene heater in the winter when there was no money for heating oil. Her mother died when Charlene was 14 after many years of battling alcoholism. Charlene moved out on her own at 19, working 50-60 hours a week while going to college full time. In 1995, her life took her south to coastal Georgia where she found a permanent home among the live oaks and sweltering heat. When she isn’t writing, she can be found working on one of her business ventures and helping other business owners thrive. Or she’s having a cocktail in downtown Savannah with friends… She is the gloating mother of 2 adult children and currently resides in Savannah, Georgia.

Smashwords Interview

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I know I started writing at a very young age, but the one I remember was a mystery in 6th grade. I was a very shy child, the proverbial fat kid and had very few friends, so I spent a lot of time reading and writing. Mrs. Blum assigned this creative writing project and when I got it back she made me read it to the class, and then had me draw and color pictures to add to it and had it “published” by the school librarian. It changed my life.
What is your writing process?
Dream a chapter, write a chapter. Seriously, I am just as excited and surprised as everyone else at where my characters go.
