The author, a combination of Paul Theroux and Alexis de Tocqueville, provides part travelogue/adventure and part social critique. Henderson masterfully uses the intrepid adventures of Silence Dogwood and John Burger to persuade the reader to use critical thinking to challenge the current world order. The thesis of changing from a greedy hegemonic geopolitical structure to a more collaborative and egalitarian world are discreetly weaved into an intriguing glimpse of expatriate life in the archipelago of Bocas del Toro, Panama. The “Occupy Wall Street” movement would benefit by having Henderson as their spokesman. John Kenneth Galbraith once stated “The conventional view serves to protect us from the painful job of thinking” Henderson is challenging us to think. Not only an enjoyable read but thought provoking. Chris White Los Angeles, California
