Smashwords Interview

How do you approach cover design?
I try to think of what looks the most professional, what is in my budget but also what my characters would like. Not only does a cover design have to fit the theme of your book, I feel that your characters should, in some way, approve of the choice. They are the ones you're representing in your writing. I like to use PicMonkey and GIMP to build my designs and I really love to use my own photography when possible.
What do you read for pleasure?
I am a fan of doing what you love- since I love to write magical urban fairy tales, that's what I look for in stories that I read. There has to be an element of romance and magic because that's what inspires me. I also love characters that are realistic and have imperfections because that's what makes them stand out.
