  • Preordained World: The Girl That Didn't Belong on Jan. 18, 2014

On first glance, this book appears to be all teenage angst and hormones in an unforgiving world... but it is so much more than that. Main character and girl that didn't belong Phoebe is living with her aunt and uncle after her parents death. She hears a voice in her head which tells her that everything in the world is preordained, except her. The voice claims that there are twelve ancient spirits who govern the preordained world and who designed everyone's fate a very long time ago. The voice tells Phoebe that she alone can change world events and shake the predetermined fates of everyone in the world. I was really intrigued by this book's plot, and think the storyline was very exciting and different. The characters are well written and likeable, particularly heroine Phoebe and the enigmatic Collum. Phoebe's friends play good supporting roles, as do her aunt and uncle. This book is a tale of teenage romance with the dramatic backdrop of the fate of the world! Humerous at times and sad at others, this book is quite emotional. I like the author's writing style and found this book really hard to put down... hence just finishing it and it being after 2.30 in the morning! My only criticism would be that there are some grammatical errors and spelling mistakes that should have been picked up, but other than that, this book presses all the right buttons, I loved it! I'd like to thank author Helen Mullen for letting me have a free copy of this brilliant book to review.
