  • Pack of Lies - Book One of the Red Ridge Pack on March 17, 2013

My Thoughts :) Okay I absolutely loved this book. I couldn’t put it down, much to my son’s dissatisfaction as I didn’t jump when he said he was hungry. lol I bought this book because I am signed up for the 2nd book’s online blog tour, a first for me and my blog, YAY!! And since I’m always looking for ways to connect with my high school students, I wanted to start with book 1 in this series. This is a YA Werewolf Romance. I will definitely be recommending to my students who are very into shifter books and one who will be an author one day. This story is told from the perspective of 3 different characters Allison, Cade, and Kendall. Most of us can relate that high school is tough because the kids can be brutal to each other, but I can’t imagine how hard it would be to add werewolf problems on top of that. I love Allison’s strength and that she is a fighter. This journey with Allison to find a place where she fit in was awesome because I see students struggling with all these same things every day. I think the authors did a fantastic job helping the reader see things from the perspective of the which character that chapter was written in. That being said you do have to pay attention at the beginning of each chapter to know who is speaking. Someone who does not pay attention or get sucked into the fantastic world of the Red Ridge Pack would easily become lost. I highly recommend this book to all those shifter lovers who don’t mind reading YA romance.
  • Blood Ties: The First (A Bane Pack Novel) on March 28, 2013

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 stars - I liked it!! I liked this book, and it was a new take on werewolves. Poor Kendra has had a tough life and now she is learning things she never knew about her friends and family. There is intrigue and betrayal throughout the book. I was really sucked into the story for the first 2 parts, and then it cooled off a little which I attribute to this being the first book in the series. I will definitely continue reading this story because there are many things that we don’t know yet, and I’m looking forward to seeing where the author goes this with. This is a new author for me, and I think he did a nice job with the story.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 stars - I loved it!! Can't wait for the next book and hope it is not long!! Wow, this book is awesome! I never would have known about it, if I hadn’t won it in a giveaway. It immediately had me sucked in their Realms and intrigued about what I would find out about the secrets involved. I definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy/adventure especially with elemental magic. This was a fantastic surprise, and I loved the journey. The story is told from the perspective of two characters Jasmine and Roxy. They are different, but both strong female characters. They do what they believe is right. I do not like giving details away because I think it should be your own fantastic journey. You won’t be disappointed.
  • The Undead Heart (#1 in the Blood Thirst Series) on April 20, 2013

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 unicorns - I absolutely loved this book!! If you are a paranormal romance reader, this book is a must read!! The only thing I couldn't stand was not having enough time due to working to read it straight through!! I can't wait to start the next book in this series. This book of course has romance but it also was funny, had sadness, time traveling, serial killer, crazy people, vengeance, fights, vomiting, adoption of adults, weddings, and did I mention funny and romance. This book was an awesome surprise like waking up without an arm that was there when you went to sleep kind of surprise. I can't even begin to put into words why I loved it so much because it would ruin your journey, and I wouldn't want to take that from you. I absolutely love Beck and Richard and their entire family :) This author just hit my favorite list, and I will read all her PNR books :) Definitely worth the read and recommended to all PNR fans!!! **gifted to me for honest review
  • Prophecy Of The Female Warrior on April 27, 2013

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 stars - I loved it!! This book was a pleasant surprise because the cover usually clues me into something, but this one not at all. I totally was sucked into Anna’s new world. I loved everything about this book; it sort of reminds me of Christine Feehan’s Dark (Carpathians) series. I love that she is a strong woman who won’t put up with being told what to do and thinks for herself. This book has intrigue, betrayal, mystery, and I could not put the story down and can’t wait to get the next book once I catch up on my reading pile :)

  • The Legend of the Blue Eyes on June 04, 2013

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 unicorns - I really liked it!! First OMG, the cover is absolutely beautiful and very intriguing. I really liked this story with all the twists and turns and mysterious back story that you only learn bits and pieces as you go keep you intrigued. It did have some boring parts here and there, but this is the first book so it is needed to make sure we understand what’s going on. I absolutely love Arianna though at the beginning she is a bit of a cliché blonde where everything goes over her head, but it is because she’s very naïve and been kept in the dark. It is amazing to watch her learn about night humans and grow as a character. I was laughing with her, irritated, worried, and cried with her. I know I’m sucked into a story when it makes me cry. I also want to mention that I love her name because if I ever had a daughter her name would have been Arianna because I always thought it was beautiful (oddly enough I found the name in a romance book which is amusing to me). I think anyone who enjoys paranormal fantasy would fall in love with Arianna and this world that Kristin created. I absolutely can’t wait to read book 2 because I think it is only going to get better as a series. ****This book was gifted to me by the author for an honest review
  • The Ivory Prison on June 24, 2013

My Thoughts - 3 out of 5 unicorns - I liked it! I liked this story, but too many unanswered questions. It didn’t feel like it should be a short story. It is a quick read only 18 pages. It is a story of what I call emotional/psychological torture and how the boy is struggling to get past it & of 2 boys who grew up different, but clinging to each other because they are the same. It will be interesting to see if it becomes a series as Goodreads suggests. Lots of questions I want answered, but I can’t put them here or it will spoil your reading of the story :) Best part is that it is FREE, so why not read it :)

Review-Over My New Thoughts - 5 out of 5 - I loved it!! **received the book free from the Lovers of Paranormal group for an honest review This story is awesome after the editing, I now give this book a 5 out of 5. I read this book back in March and after being told about the editing decided to re-read it. All of the issues were fixed. The two authors write as one which is amazing to me since everyone writes differently. The back story is tragic to both the female and male lead, but it helps draw you into their lives. The drama, battles, and connections between the characters are exciting. I was not happy where the ending left you hanging, but I will definitely be reading the next book which I’m sure was the point :) I’m hoping some of my questions about her grandma and her will be answered in book 2. It is definitely worth reading and recommended to all PNR fans!! :) March 7th - My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 stars! - I really liked it!! Okay when I first started this book, I was confused, and the book seemed pieced together. I read parts that were worded awkwardly, and I thought the two authors did not write well together. BUT (and it is a big one because it all changed!!) and I’m not sure when it changed, that awkwardness disappeared, and you couldn’t tell it was two authors writing it. I'm not sure if part of the awkward could be contributed to this being the first book in a new series! This story is awesome, and I would totally have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the beginning confusion. The back story is tragic to both the female and male lead, but it helps draw you into their lives. The drama, battles, and connections between the characters are exciting. I was not happy where the ending left you hanging, but I will definitely be reading the next book which I’m sure was the point :) It is definitely worth reading to all PNR fans!! :) **received the book free from the Making Connections group for an honest review
  • Becoming a Legend on July 04, 2013

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 unicorns - I loved it! First, Kristin is a sweetheart when I read the first book and liked it so much, she gifted me the 2nd book for an honest review. I love when an author talks to their fans. She is a sweetheart :) The cover has the same beautiful blue-eyed girl from book 1 with the tribute to the legend in the background. I don’t know why but eyes are something that always grab my attention, so the series surrounding blue eyes and the cover are what drew my attention to it. This book was even better than the last one :) The author weaves a fabulous story :) It has all sorts of action, another birthday, parties, deception, more secrets, getaways, and so much more. I loved the growth in Ari’s character in this book as she starts to take control of her life. She learns all sorts of new things about herself and the legend in this book. I was sucked into the story and loved every minute. I love the world Kristin has created, and you learn so much more about it in this book. I cannot wait for book 3. I hope we don’t have to wait long :) I highly recommend this must read for paranormal fans, and I will be looking to add the paperback to my classroom library for my budding paranormal fans :)
  • The Woodlands on Oct. 06, 2013

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 unicorns - I really liked it!! ***Received ebook from Clean Teen Publishing for an honest review, but I also added to my library because it is free. The cover is breathtaking. I love how you see the wooded railroad tracks through her face and see her beautiful blue eye. It is very intriguing and attracts you to the book. If you couldn’t tell from the blurb, this story is set in a post-war era and is a dystopian fantasy. This story is difficult for me to put words to paper. I think part of the reason is because it is just too real life for me. Everyday people deal with race issues, pregnancy, and teen rebellion, and this story has it all. This story is not something I usually read because it is way too real life, and I like to escape into my books and get away from real life. Rosa feels so real when you read the story. I was crying with her, saying don’t do it when she was rebelling, and telling her to stop pushing people away when she was. She is definitely stronger than I am because I don’t think I could have handled half of what she had to. Joseph is sweet and adorable and the knight in shining armor. Most boys would not put up with half the stuff he has from the drama, but he always sticks by Rosa. Okay, I was annoyed when the story ended because I have no idea what is going to happen next which doesn’t happen very often, and I had so many questions that weren’t answered. It was the appropriate place to stop, but I still don’t like that it did. Lauren did a fantastic job with the story, and I will definitely continue this series to see where Lauren takes it next :) I will also be buying the paperback from my classroom because I have quite a few students who like stories that are more real life and dystopia as well. You too can read this fantastic story because it is FREE!!!
  • Supernatural Summer on Nov. 08, 2013

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 unicorns - I loved it!!! I picked this book up for free a few days ago when Skye wrote a guest post for my blog. It was a short read at about 34 pages, so I squeezed it in. This is a coming of age story and definitely YA appropriate. The teen angst and drama was very high school making it believable, but the poltergeisting had me laughing even though poor Summer was freaking out. Summer is sort of all over the place like a typical high school student where she is confident one moment and freaking out about nothing the next moment. I’m not a short story person, but this story was great :) Watching how Summer deals with her poltergeisting is quite amusing :) I will definitely be checking out Skye’s new book when it comes out in December 2013. I recommend this story to all those who enjoy YA paranormal genre with a little YA romance thrown in!
  • Wind Warrior on Dec. 17, 2013

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 unicorns - I loved it!!! Well I bought it, started reading it, got to chapter 8, reluctantly put it down to go to the Facebook release party that started at 7 pm Central and went until 10 pm, then I finished reading it…..and it was AWESOME!! I’m not sure what it is about stories with elementals, but they draw me in. I think it has something to do with my childhood because I used to stand outside (near Chicago) and pretend I could make the wind gust….sigh sadly though no wind super powers for me. Sorry easily sidetracked :) The story was wonderful written and sucked you straight into the fabulous world Jon created. I loved both Xander and Sammy equally :) and have secret hopes that in the future they will team up and kick the bad guys’ butts….sorry another tangent! The story has elementals, college, drama, battles, family secrets, heroism and so much more. Do you like X-men, Firestarter, Air Benders, well how about superheroes? Then you want to read this book, I mean it :) I think I’m going to have to buy this one for my classroom library too!!
  • Broken Promises on Jan. 08, 2014

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!! I picked up this book up for free, and I believe it is permafree. I read it now as a judge for the Author and Reader Convention. The cover is okay and a pretty girl, but it doesn’t do anything to attract me to the book. This is not usually the type of book I would read, but I was pleasantly surprised that I really liked it. I am not usually a realistic/contemporary fiction person. This is a new adult book as it does have some steamy sex scenes. Dawn is a fantastic writer and makes it easy to connect with her characters. This book also deals with cancer and grief just to forewarn you. I really connected with Mallory who tends to run away from love and possible hurt. Of course, I connect with her because I have my own ‘Luke’ out there that I will always love; unfortunately, he doesn’t feel the same. I don’t know if this connection is why I really liked this book. I really fell in love with all of the characters in this book except Mallory’s roommates. I will definitely be continuing to read this series because I want to see what happens with Mallory and Luke’s friends. I recommend this book to all those people who believe in second chances, love, and realistic contemporary fiction.
  • Cougar's Mate on March 03, 2014

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***Author gifted me a copy for an honest review The cover is awesome and sexy :) It is what attracted me to the excerpt up on Wattpad & of course that it is Terry Spear. I have read most of the Heart of the Wolf series by Terry and loved them all. I have the ones I haven’t read yet sitting on my coffee table as well as the Jaguar shifter books too. As always there is never enough time for reading :) Okay I fell in love with this story from the moment I read Chapter 1 on Wattpad. I had to find out if this was a book, so I left a comment asking :) She told me it was a book and would be out soon. I was so excited because I love shifter books & Terry Spear, so together ***insert a girly scream here, I was extremely happy! In Terry’s books, you never have to wait to be sucked into the story. She had me at the first chapter. I read the book straight through with tiny breaks for necessities. First impressions of Shannon, she is the type of girl who just wants to be loved but is always found by the wrong men. I love that she is not a pushover because I don’t want to read a story about a fainting daisy that always need rescuing and won’t try to rescue herself. I love my heroine’s strong and feisty and that is Shannon even when she is skittish. Chase is a sexy man with a past that makes you cry. It makes you want to save him :) He would be a loner, but his friends won’t let him. I love this!! I love seeing people rally together and support each other when needed. I wish it happened more in life especially with kids. All of this makes me love the shifter town of Yuma, and I hope this is a series because I want to read more about all of the secondary characters who I have already started loving. I highly recommend this book to my shifter loving friends & those who already love Terry Spear!! Can’t wait to read more!!!

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 unicorns - I loved it!! **Received an ebook copy from Clean Teen Publishing for an honest review The cover is absolutely beautiful!! I was intrigued from the first moment I saw it! Marya did a fantastic job! The story was phenomenal and I loved every moment of reading it! I couldn’t put it down in fact I read it straight through much to my son’s chagrin. I totally fell in love with Xanthus and Sara. Sara is strong, independent, and doesn’t just cower and hide when something bad happens. I couldn’t imagine being confined to a wheel chair or people thinking you were an abomination. She is very strong and a great role model for not giving up. Xanthus is a fierce and protective warrior with a soft spot for Sara. He also sounds very dreamy :) This is a awesome combination of mythology, sea creatures, and the real world. Can you imagine if Dagonians or mermaids were real? What if they lived among us? Do you think they would appreciate what we do to the world? I think it would be cool to swim the oceans and not fear for your life from sharks and everything else that lives in the ocean especially if Xanthus was by your side. Okay the ending frustrated me, but you have to read it to see what I mean!! I can't wait to read more about this awesome world!! Holly totally rocks!! :) I will definitely be adding this book to my library in paperback. If you like mermaid adventures, you will love this one!!
  • Taken: The Alpha’s Captive BBW/Werewolf Romance #1 on Dec. 21, 2014

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!! ***Received a copy of the ebook in exchange for an honest review, but I already owned this one and you can too, it is free!! The cover is awesome whether looking at the first cover or the new one :) I love them both :) Levi is looking very sexy :) I’m starting with the must knows first :) This is a serial, and for those who don’t understand what that is: it is like a tv show with several episodes and this one has 7 episodes. You must read them in order to understand, and you probably will scream when or where it ends :) Good news :) All episodes are out and no waiting is required :) Some authors do serials really well and V.M. Black is one of them. I say this because even though it is a whole book by itself, I think it is an art to pick just the right place to end where it does feel like you made the reader walk into a wall to stop the story. She ends at a good place where you have a little closure, but you definitely know there is more and want to read it :) This of course is for adults only because it has some very steamy scenes. Levi and Harper are two great characters :) Harper is strong and won’t let anyone taken anything from her, and she is adventurous :) I love her spunky attitude and that she keeps surprising Levi with the unexpected :) Levi is sexy and sort of mysterious, and of course Harper doesn’t realize why she is so taken with him other than she has a thing for bad boys :) This episode is smoldering with awesome adventure and action :) I can’t wait for more :) I recommend this serial to all my wolf lovin’ friends especially if you are already a fan of V.M. Black. Off to read the next one :)
  • Wolver's Rescue on Feb. 23, 2015

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!! ***Received the ebook for an honest review The cover is perfect and definitely beckons me to it!! :) Love it!! I have loved every book I have read by Jacqueline so far :) I am always pulled into her stories and just can’t put them down. I was up way too late last night trying to finish it last night, but finally had to call it or I wouldn’t have gotten 4 hours of sleep. So as soon as I got out of the shower this morning, I finished the last couple of chapters. Her descriptions and story lines always make for a wonderful story full of adventure to keep you completely ensconced in her Wolver world. This one was an emotional rollercoaster. On several occasions, I was crying, laughing, and cheering for butt kicking. Tommie is amazingly strong, but she doesn’t even realize she is. Bull is awesome, but I love that Tommie always gets the last word….hilarious :) The only part that makes me sad is there isn’t anything more to read. I don’t want to wait for more of this fabulous world that Jacqueline has created. I know I have mentioned it on occasion, but I’m not so patient on the waiting game, but thankfully she never leaves us hanging at the end of the book and it’s always a happy ending!! I highly recommend this series to all those shifter lovers out there :) It is AWESOME!!!
  • Winning the Legend on March 27, 2015

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 unicorns - I loved it! **Originally gifted a copy, but I have bought the whole series :) The cover is just beautiful and I really love all the covers for this series :) I really want to add these to my classroom library to share with my students….someday when I’m independently wealthy and can afford to do it with all the book I’d love to share with them. This is the third book in the YA trilogy The Blue Eyes. I read the first two books back in 2013. While you probably do not have to read the books in order, I recommend you do because you will miss out on the relationships built and becoming invested in the characters lives :) I’m not sure why I waited so long to read this one because I really do love this series. It took me a chapter or two to remember my characters and remember what was going on, but once I did I didn’t want to put it down. Of course, I had a few things that disrupted my plan of no interruptions while reading :) but kids do that ;) Arianna is a typical high school girl who is unsure of herself at times, but she shows such fierce determination to be free and loyalty and love to her friends and family. She also has more compassion than most girls her own age which makes me admire her all the more :) I really do love all her keepers and family too!! B. Kristin’s style of writing is an easy read, and I had no problems imagining my way through her creative and awesome world. I am amazed at how she wove all sorts of Night Humans into her world and such a complex plot where all the Night Humans are concerned. I am ecstatic that this world continues on in another series Day Human which I will definitely be reading :) I highly recommend this series to YA paranormal fans.
