I live in Glasgow, Scotland. I studied History at university and went to an agricultural college as a mature student to study Animal Care. I have done voluntary work with sea turtles, reindeer, primates and small animals.
I fell into writing rhyming picture books for children in 2014. While off work due to illness I wrote a poem for British charity OCD:UK's Awareness Week which got me writing again for the first time in years. After this I wrote my first poem for children which was inspired by my own pet rabbits and three more poems quickly followed.
I knew nothing of the publishing industry before I started writing and everything has been done through trial and error and google!
Describe your desk
My desk is my bed or my settee. I'd love a writing shed though. If I did have a desk it would be a mess.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Carnoustie on the east coast of Scotland. I lived next to the beach and was never far from greenery. I try to maintain a sense of innocence in my writing, invoking a sense of timelessness.
