Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in small town America and began working in criminal justice fresh out of college. This helped me learn about the "real world" and see that many people struggle with self-help type issues; and it also helped me realize that I wanted to do my part to reduce that struggle.
When did you first start writing?
I've dreamt of publishing a book since I was a little girl, but I didn't actually start writing until I was in my late 30's. I had the chance to move across country and change careers, so I knew that was my opportunity to make my dreams a reality.
