DRAGON’S BREATH is a riveting and suspenseful tale of human triumph. Matt Semko, a fine disciplined cadet and football hero, whose uncompromising integrity leads him to defy and then reject the rules of conduct that have shaped him; first at The Citadel and thenThe Charleston Fire Department.
The year is 1967. Charleston and South Carolina are being besieged by integration from the outside and from within. Matt Semko is exposed to this turmoil, first at his high school then at The Citadel and finally The Fire Department.
The Powers fight to keep the status quo. Matt fights to improve his life and those of his fellow Truck men. Matt is ultimately forced to risk his career and all chances of advancement in his quest to improve the Department. Finally, the years of equipment and training neglect culminate in the worse fire this City and State have ever witnessed. Nine of his brother fire fighters die in a senseless, predictable and preventable tragedy.
