I really liked this mystery. I usually don't read cozy mysteries, but this one had enough substance to hold my interest, as well as likable characters. I would definitely read more of this author.

I usually love anything Holmes, and steampunk is a genre I'm just starting to get into. But for some reason this didn't grab me. I ended up stopping about 30 pages in. I think trying to be as close to Doyle's style as the author was didn't work in this story. A more modern narration would have worked best for me personally. Well written though.

The story: excellent. I'm so intrigued by this transmutation concept. I'm also a fan of psychological things. The writing: eh. I could definitely see where the author was going with the writing style. Thriller type, Crichton, King, Deaver. But it seemed, I don't want to say juvenile, but not as good as I had hoped it would be. Very on par with someone writing a first novel for the first time. Overall: fairly good.
