Damien Gray

Damien Gray was born, raised and currently resides in northern California with his second wife of 26 years. From his first marriage of 12 years to a childhood sweetheart, he became the proud father of 2 sons and 1 daughter who are now grown and have families of their own.

Service to his country began when he was drafted into the United States Army in 1970 in the midst of trying to get a college education, and he served faithfully until his Honorable discharge in 1982.

He spent the first 3 years in the broadcast-journalism field and was then selected to work in the Army’s new behavioral sciences field as a child abuse investigator.

In 1981, he survived a full-blown near death (transcendent) experience, and this profound event changed the course of his life forever, both on a personal and professional level.

Damien shares many of the highly controversial spiritual lessons he learned in his upcoming e-book (due-out in January 2014) titled, “From Rebirth to Rebirth: Shocking Spiritual Knowledge Revealed.” He shares this information after remaining silent for approximately 32 years.

While serving in the Army, he earned an undergraduate degree in the law enforcement field from Columbia College and a graduate degree in clinical psychology from the Boston Graduate School for Psychoanalysis. He is a board-certified-expert in the identification and treatment of post-traumatic stress Disorders with a specialization in treating adolescent and adult survivors of childhood sexual trauma and abuse from the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, and in addition to that, he is considered an expert in the field of Thanatology, which is the study of the dying process and bodily death.

Damien has worked withinin the funeral industry, emergency medical services field as a first-responder on “the mean streets of East Oakland in California” and as an emergency room and trauma technician in a Level 1 trauma center, also in the City of Oakland.

He spent approximately 21 years in private practice in Pleasanton, California as the Director of PTSD-Solutions, as a sought-after and highly-respected counselor and therapist.

Though he specialized in treating PTSD, he has also dealt with nearly every possible human concern from A - Z, and then some.

After closing his private practice due to burnout, he went to work with two attorneys doing family and divorce mediation for a couple of years after completing 120 hours of intensive training in the family and divorce mediation field.

Damien also has extensive experience working with hospice patients as an end-of-life counselor and has always viewed this endeavor as a "profound privilege and a sacred charge."

Today at 63 years of age, he’s decided to share the knowledge he's learned from a variety of life experiences as well as the wisdom he’s gained over the years in order to help educate others.

As a new Indie author, he hopes to inform, enlighten and empower his readers, and he wants more than anything else to open-up lines of communication between his readers and their families and close friends by writing on topics that most people don’t talk about around their kitchen table.

Says Damien, "I can't force people to believe anything that I pass along in my books and that's not my intent to begin with. But what I can do, is to leave them with a lot of food-for-thought"

Smashwords Interview

What kinds of books do you enjoy writing?
Since I don't have the creative attributes nor the patience it takes to write novels, I do however have a genuine passion for writing e-books that educate, inform, enlighten, and empower others. Though I truly don't profess to be the most prolific writer on the planet, I like to write on topics that most people "don't like to talk about around their kitchen table" - books that take people out of their comfort zones at times, and write in a straight-forward and sometimes in an "apolitically-correct manner" without all of the FLUFF that most authors like to include in their non-fiction manuscripts. I like to leave people with "food-for-thought" and allow readers to take from my books what they wish, if anything at all.
So what is the real motivation behind you writing these sorts of books?
Well...at 63 years of age, my passion is focused on helping to educate people from all walks of life and give them something to think about. I want to help open-up lines of communication between my readers, their family members and close friends.

I've personally always tried to learn things from other people, and it doesn't matter if I'm speaking with the CEO of a Fortune 100 company, or the people who clean the CEOs office. If you take the time to really care and truly listen, you'll be amazed at what you can learn from others from all walks of life, so never judge a book by its cover. If you do, you'll miss-out on a lot of valuable insight.
