Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Yes. People are actually born here. I'd have to say that growing up here influenced my writing because as diverse as this place is, it's very easy to live in a pocket. Like, you can stay in one place and not come across anyone that isn't just like you but if you travel one mile you can see people that are the opposite of you. Its weird that way. L.A gave me a chance to not only take that individuality that people think they have but mix it with others who feel the same way but are very similar without knowing it.
When did you first start writing?
Late. I have spent most of my life drawing as my main form of anything artistically. It wasn't until some time in my mid-20's that I really began writing down any of my stories that I had about characters of mine that I'd had for years. My best friend, Camille, saw one of my characters and loved him so I wrote parts of his life. After that I started taking it more seriously and over time have written close to 1,000 stories.
