I worked with John at the beginning of our veterinary careers in Mid-Canterbury. I was also an import into the Vet Club system from UK vet school but the homesickness eventually pulled me back to UK to spend my career home in Northern Ireland. Much enjoyed John's account of his career, so much of which mirrored my own. Farming characters are the same the world over and over the generations - my father who is now 93 and was a general veterinary practitioner from 1940s to 1970s and has told similar stories to those told by John. If folk enjoyed the tales from "James Herriot" from 30 years ago they will undoubtedly this account. I look forward to reading more of John's veterinary memoirs
